The “WAP” rapper had a virtual sitdown with the Democratic presidential candidate forEllemagazine this morning (August 17), just hours ahead of the2020 Democratic National Convention.
Biden kicked off the conversation asking Cardi about the policies she feels strongly about, to which the 27-year-old responded with a "whole list" of expecations for the next POTUS. "But first, I just want Trump out," expressed Cardi, who was an outspoken supporter of Bernie Sanders during the Democratic primary. "His mouth gets us in trouble so much.”
“I don’t want to be lied to — we’re dealing with a pandemic right now, and I just want answers,” she continued. “I want to know when this will be over. I want to go back to my job. But I don’t want someone to lie to me and tell me that it’s fine not to wear a mask, that everything is going to be okay. … Tell me the truth, the hard-core truth."
Among the “Bodak Yellow” star’s expectations includes free college tuition and Medicare — “child care” especially, adds Cardi, who is the mother of 2-year-old daughter Kulture. “Nobody wants to go hustle out there and get the money for the kid like a mother,” she explained. “[But] how are you supposed to do that when you probably can’t afford a babysitter? Fortunately for me, my mom helps take care of my child, but for a lot of people, their mom cannot retire and take care of the kids.”
