A Virginia man who was wrongly detained by ICE is now reconsidering his vote for President Donald Trump, per The Guardian.

Jensy Machado, who is a U.S. citizen, said he was stopped by ICE agents while on his way to work in Manassas, Virginia, the site of a recent, large-scale immigration enforcement operation.

“They just got out of the car with the guns in their hands and say: ‘Turn off the car, give me the keys, open the window,’ you know. Everything was really fast,” Machado said.

Machado recalled the ICE agents brandishing guns as they surrounded his truck.

“I was a Trump supporter,” he said. “I voted for Trump last election, but, because I thought it was going to be like ... against criminals, not every Hispanic, Spanish-lookalike.”

During his encounter with ICE, Machado said agents had mistaken him with a different man who had a deportation order. When he offered to show agents his Virgina driver's license to confirm his identity, Machado said the agents ordered him to leave his car and placed him in handcuffs.

One of the agents allegedly asked Machado how he got into the country.

“And I told him I was an American citizen,” Machado said. “He looked at his other partner like, you know, smiling, like saying, ‘Can you believe this guy?’”

Machado was eventually released after he was allowed to present his identification. He said his faith in Trump's administration is waiting following his wrongful detainment by ICE.

“They will assume that we are all illegals,” Machado said. “They’re just following Hispanic people.”
