Severance star Tramell Tillman has made Emmy history.

On Sunday (September 14), Tillman won the Emmy award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama series for his role in Severance. The 77th Primetime Emmy Awards marks the first time a Black man has taken home the honor. It was the only acting category at the Emmys that had yet to award a Black performer.

Tillman snagged the history-making award over fellow co-stars Zach Cherry and John Turturro, White Lotus' Walton Goggins, Jason Isaacs, and Sam Rockwell, and James Marsden from Paradise.

Sunday's achievement also marked Tillman's first Emmy award. During his acceptance speech, the Severance star paid homage to his mother, who accompanied him at the ceremony in Los Angeles' Peacock Theater.

"You remember what you want to remember. You make time for what you want to make time for. Do the work. Show up. And most importantly, for the love of God, don't embarrass me in public," Tillman began his speech.

"My first acting coach was tough, y'all. But all great mothers are," the actor quipped. "Momma, you were there for me when no one else was and when no one else would show up. Your love and kindness stay with me. This is for you."

Tillman went on to thank the Academy for his award before referencing one of his mom's sayings.

"As my momma would say. Whew, look at God!" Tillman concluded, holding up his Emmy with pride.
