President Donald Trump launched an attack on New York Attorney General Letitia James, calling her “scum” and demanding her removal from office.
In a Truth Social post on Saturday (October 4), Trump labeled James, who led a civil fraud case against the president, as a "complete and total disaster."
“Corrupt Letitia James is costing New York State hundreds of billions of dollars in lost business,” Trump wrote. “No company or individual wants to be there, knowing that she’s the ‘Attorney General.’ She is a Complete and Total Disaster.”
Trump accused James of waging a political “witch hunt” against him and claimed that her actions are driving businesses out of New York.
“Until this ‘SCUM’ is removed… no company will move to New York,” he continued.
Trump also shared a Fox News screenshot claiming that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac plan to shut down their New York offices due to James’ alleged “dangerous business practices.”
This isn't the first time Trump and James have clashed. James led a case against Trump over inflated property values, resulting in a $500 million judgment that was later overturned by a New York appeals court.
Trump also claimed James attempted a failed run for governor, noting she dropped out after polling at 1 percent.
The Justice Department has reportedly issued subpoenas to James’ office and accused her of mortgage fraud, though no charges have been filed.
