Atlanta residents in predominantly Black neighborhoods are being urged to double-check Election Day information after signs falsely listing November 5 as the date began appearing across the city.

According to multiple outlets, the Concerned Black Clergy of Metropolitan Atlanta is raising concerns about the signs, which incorrectly list Thursday, November 5, instead of the actual Election Day, Tuesday, November 3.

Members of the group suspect the signs are intended to mislead Black voters, although it’s unclear who posted them.

During a Monday (November 2) meeting, the pastors addressed the signs and urged residents not to believe the incorrect information, WSB-TV reported.

One sign was spotted near Berean Seventh Day Adventist Church in northwest Atlanta, where Associate Pastor Gregory Saunders said a church member initially believed the election date had changed, according to WSB-TV.

Saunders immediately removed the sign and informed his congregation that Election Day remained November 3. He also told WSB-TV that another pastor in a different predominantly Black neighborhood had spotted a similar sign.

When asked who would post the misleading signs, Saunders responded, “Someone who is intentional. Who doesn’t want to see the process work honestly.”

Concerned Black Clergy President Rev. Shanan Jones also questioned why the signs appeared to be concentrated in Black communities.

“I’ve only seen this in the Black community,” she said.

Helen Butler of the Coalition for the People's Agenda urged voters to verify election information before heading to the polls.

“Don’t listen to the mis[information] and disinformation. Get the facts,” Butler said.

Election Day is Tuesday (November 3). Voters can confirm their polling locations and registration information through the Georgia Secretary of State’s My Voter Page.
