Joe Renwick is the founder and leader of Green Energy Biofuel LLC, a multi-state waste-to-resource company specializing in sustainable waste management, biofuel production, and environmental services. What began as a small operation in his garage—experimenting with converting used cooking oil into biodiesel—has grown into one of the most diverse feedstock processing and waste recovery operations in the Southeastern United States.
A graduate of The Citadel with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Renwick has spent over 15 years researching and refining biofuel production and waste recovery systems. His company provides innovative, landfill-free solutions for restaurants, manufacturers, and industrial clients, transforming waste streams into renewable energy and reusable resources.
Under his leadership, the Warrenville facility continues to expand and modernize, with ongoing upgrades to processing systems and increased centrifuge capacity to handle more complex industrial waste streams, alongside multiple pipeline projects currently in development. The South Carolina Manufacturers Alliance named Green Energy Biofuel Innovator of the Year in 2025, with previous recognition including the Carolina Recycling Association’s Annual Recycling Award and Recycler of the Year in 2022. Green Energy Biofuel has received many additional awards over the years.
